Chiplets have become one of the hottest topics in the semiconductor industry for good reason. They take the concept of a single, large, highly integrated system on a chip (SoC) and break it up into blocks of functionality called chiplets. With interconnect standards and a strong ecosystem, designers will eventually be able to pick chiplets designed by different companies, built at their optimized technology nodes, add in their own hardware and software expertise, and create new designs not possible today.
